Frequently Asked Questions

INSIGHTS FROM OUR CEO

We are grateful for the opportunity to assist several new clients this month, and we wanted to share helpful information about the FMRT scheduling processes based on questions we’ve received.

What is a licensed psychologist?
A licensed psychologist is a doctoral-level psychologist. FMRT psychologists are licensed and follow the professional practice and ethical guidelines of the American Psychological Association and the American Board of Professional Psychology for clinical, forensic, police, and public safety psychologists, in addition to legal and industry standards. Including SC Academy and NC Senate Bill 300 & House Bill 436 requirements.

We’re Ready to Schedule – What’s Next?

  • Call or email to schedule an appointment
    • No contract required unless the department needs one
  •  Set up your FMRT Online account
  • Be on the lookout for a “verbal” the day after the applicant appointment
  • View final reports on FMRT Online five-seven business days after applicant appointment

1. Scheduling
To schedule, call or email Kaci Presgraves, our Client Support Supervisor, at 336-761-0764 x1017 or kaci@fmrt.org. She or one of the Client Support Coordinators will schedule your candidates promptly, typically within the week of the initial request or the following week. You are welcome to fill out the appointment request form and return it via email in place of calling, or staff can take this information over the phone.

If the evaluation request is time-sensitive, FMRT recommends that the point of contact from the department call/email to schedule directly with an FMRT staff member.

2. Set Up Your FMRT Online Administrative Account
FMRT Online is a multifaceted platform that The FMRT Group uses to schedule appointments, complete reports, upload forms, and track valuable demographic information. Employers can also track applicant/employee progression and view completed reports.

Email Client & Clinician Support Specialist Jenna Kelly (jenna@fmrt.org) to receive an invitation to establish your account. All users set up a unique log-in and can designate one or more individuals as the “Department Administrator.” This person can add, remove, and set specific permissions for each user. Click here to access the FMRT Online user guide.

3. Verbal Recommendation
Verbal first! Within one business day after the candidates’ appointment, a Client Support Team Member will provide you with a suitability recommendation:

  • Suitable
  • Not Suitable
  • Deferred (this means that additional information is needed – i.e., records or prescription validation)

4. Retrieval of Reports and Forms
Unless further information is needed, you will receive an email notification within 5-7 business days from the appointment, informing you that the reports (and medical forms) are available through your FMRT Online account.

What is the cost of these evaluations?
The 2023 Pre-Hire Psychological and Medical Services price list and Post-Hire Psychological and Medical Services price lists are now available. FMRT offers multi-year contracts which allow for set prices over extended periods. The new price lists do not affect departments with multi-year contracts before July 2022. To discuss a new multi-year contract or to request a pricing proposal, contact our Accounting Clerk, Dana Dalton, at Dana@fmrt.org

Do I need FMRT if I’m not hiring?
Of course! While current legislation and guidelines require pre-hire psychological evaluations for new hires in the Carolinas, FMRT does offer psychological support beyond the pre-hire stage. Our most popular post-hire services include Fitness-for-Duty evaluations, Critical Incident Appointments, Wellness Appointments, and Annual Psychological Evaluations. Click here for a comprehensive post-hire service list.

We are excited to welcome new agencies and to continue supporting our current public safety professionals. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to reach out.
